Full Name Trever Ethan Christopher Daly (McCallum, see history)
Called by Trever or Trev (Or GODDAMNIT DALY GET THAT GODDAMN CAT OUT OF HERE!)
Age: 33
Please describe your OC's universe of origin: Link here.

Description: Trever is tall and lanky with a huge smattering of freckles on his pale face. Family lore says that they were cursed by fairies to have freckles. No one knows why anyone would curse a family to have freckles but there you go. His hair is a brilliant red and his eyes are summer grass green. His hands and arms are covered in numerous scars from dealing with very unhappy animals (Because god damnit no I don’t want that shot, why are you doing that to my paw, who said you could touch my wing!? What the hell did you just stick in there!? Just because you can talk to animals doesn’t make them less likely to not claw you for pissing them off.) Trever also speaks with a thick Cork accent most of the time, except when he’s actually trying to explain something.

History: To describe Trever’s history, one must be go back about six thousand years ago to a small city state in the Middle East where a prince became a slave and consort to a god. Shipwrecked far from home the prince, Tuathal and his twin brother were sold to the gods of this city state when the eldest - the moon god - declared that he wanted one of them, never indicating which one he wanted. Tuathal was the one who got chosen to join the god’s harem. The god was quite fond of Tuathal and after a great deal of strife, the affection was returned.

And then Tuathal died, as all mortals do.

The god refused to take this as a reality.

He went to his youngest brother, the god of the dead and death and demanded he bring Tuathal back. After much debating and discussion and talking with Tuathal’s goddess of the dead they came to an agreement: Tuathal would be reincarnated but the moon god wouldn’t know where and as who. He would have to search for the new person that Tuathal had been born as and convince him or her to fall in love with him again. This, sadly led to the start of the city state’s downfall for the moon god spent many years away looking for his lover. And the city needs all its gods.

Time past and Tuathal’s soul got recycled over the many long years until modern day when it became Trever.

Raised in Cork, Ireland Trever is the middle child of three boys. He has an older brother, Nathan “Nat” who is a chef at a five star restaurant, and a twin brother, Kale who is a computer engineer and his co-worker. His father Calvin is a diplomat for Ireland and his mother used to be in the army but has since retired. His father is also the current “king”. On his mother’s side of the family he’s related to the Morrigan on his father’s he’s related to Brigid. Naturally, family gatherings tend to be … interesting when they show up.

Trever grew up in his mother’s family home called Thorn Hall and was raised pretty much as a McCallum. His mother was the second eldest of twelve siblings and her youngest sister and brother was born around the same time as Nat was. McCallums are known for a penchent for mad violence, perhaps a bit of berserker fury. They tend to grow out of it, or settle, but as children they’re a bit .. weird. Ceilidh, Trever’s youngest cousin at four enjoys playing games like “destroy the village and rain death upon all those who defy her” with her toy ponies and dolls. When she grows up she wants to crush the world under her heel or be a vet like Trever. Her pony is named Bone Crusher Bringer of Doom. Or Boney for short. She also stole a pony because her mother wouldn’t buy one for her. She’s four, did we mention this?

Fortunately Trever’s father manage to even out some of the McCallum traits. However despite being a Daly in name, he is firmly a McCallum. The Morrigan and Brigid made a bet when Talia was pregnant. Whoever could get Talia to take their suggestion for names got to take the unborn child for their influence. The Morrigan waited until Talia was exhausted from childbirth and a bit fuzzy in the head to suggest Trever - with an “e” and Kale - like the cabbage - as names for the twins. Talia thought that was a brilliant idea. Calvin didn’t but he was out of the room when Talia told the nurses. He got to give the boys their middle names though. Which is why they’re less weird.

His childhood was fairly unremarkable for a McCallum. He grew up outside of the city with a bunch of animals and a huge family with supernatural creatures occasionally stopping by who wished to speak with the king, his father. It wasn’t a secret kept from him or his brothers, but it wasn’t actually mentioned to other people. It was something that you knew or you didn’t.

He and Kale got into the usual amounts of ridiculous trouble that two twin boys of heroic descent could get into in the countryside. Their mother taught them the fine art of killing things with weapons and how to defend themselves starting when they were about five. Trever’s knack with animals was discovered pretty early when he found a griffin hatchling and was able to approach it without its mother attacking him. He was that kid that took care of all the animals on the farm and the ones he found hurt, nursing them back to health. The house was full of critters because of him, but he never really kept any of them as pets.

In Secondary school Trever started playing Gaelic Football in the centre forward position. It got him a scholarship into veterinary school. About halfway through school at University College Dublin, on a cold and nastily rainy night he discovered a small black kitten half drowned in one of the gutters. Being the man he is, of course he rescued the poor drowned kitten taking it back to his apartment. After drying her off and giving her dinner he set her into the cage he had for such critters for the night and when he went to bed discovered her curled on his pillow, sound asleep. He tried putting her back into her cage several times and each time she ended up on his pillow. Much to his surprise, she could teleport. And she refused to leave him.

Even when scientists from the government tried to take her away, she refused to leave him, always teleporting back to him. Eventually they gave up and he could keep her. She was then registered as his familiar.

About a year after he graduated from University College Dublin he and Kale were contacted by an old family friend, Rhys Owen. Rhys was looking to recruit the twins for a new organization he was restarting. Restarting because every fifty to a hundred years he would make a new version of it. This time around he was calling it the Department of Magical Crimes or DMC. One of the earliest versions was the Round Table. Rhys, it should be noted, was known as Merlin for a while. The DMC’s purpose was to take care of crimes and magical problems that governments don’t wish to or don’t have the capabilities to deal with. Because of politics or resources.

Of course they agreed to do it.

Other members of the team eventually include a pair of triplets from Boston High Society and Old Money: Anna, a doctor, Adrian, a ritual mage (think mad scientist) and Adrienne, a war mage; Lan, their intern an empath and psychometric from Russia, Eric, an ex- drug addict and shanghaied into being Adrian’s apprentice and Theodred Sammeth a necromancer and demi-god, his father being one of the most powerful businessmen in the world and his uncle being Ash... a moon god.

It was Ash that was the focus of their first case. The god had created a second dust bowl in the continental United States to gather up enough energy to repower himself and his godly abilities. The team (minus Eric and Lan) managed to stop him in Los Angeles just before the ritual could be completed. The deciding factor was Trever distracting Ash long enough for Adrian to finish shutting down the portals.

Why did Trever distract Ash? Because Ash recognized him as Tuathal. Though Trever, of course, didn’t recognize him. Ash was captured and his powers dampened. Apparently this was a small price for the god to pay to have Trever back in his life again.

Trever didn’t feel the same way. He had no interest in Ash sexually or socially. Unfortunately Ash didn’t understand no. Also, unfortunately, Trever sometimes found himself acting weird around Ash. Time passed and he mostly kept away from Ash, as much as he could considering that Theo was his co-worker. That and Ash was very good at stalking him. Which unnerves the hell out of him.

They got a few more high profile cases including another one involving Theo’s family, this time a brother long thought dead who was trying a similar trick that Ash did but with less impact on the environment. This time it involved murders. Trever will be brought in game before this case as that way Veena won’t be pregnant. Because I believe the last thing the station needs is a litter of teleporting kittens, one of which who can eat anything.

Personality: While not exactly dour, Trever tends to be the serious one between him and Kale. He is also the more dominant of the pair, usually the one coming up with the bad ideas and how to implement them, Kale coming along with them because they sounded like fun. He’s used to being a leader because of this. Trever also feels the weight of being a ‘prince’ because his older brother is likely to abdicate the throne. Nat would rather concentrate on cooking than ruling. So, he takes these things seriously, wanting to do a good job at it.

He is the sort that would go and seek out justice to right a wrong. If someone asked him to find or revenge a person, he’s more than likely to jump in and do it. He wouldn’t join the army to fight a cause, instead would prefer to try and do it himself. The heroic blood in him has given him - as well as luck - a serious independent streak. He feels like he could and should go off and defeat the dark lord and save the princess by himself - or with his brother. Had he been born a few hundred years earlier, he’d be the sort to burst into a room sword drawn and ready to take on everything.

Working with the DMC allows him to indulge in these sorts of heroics.

Trever is also quite capable of laughing at himself - when it’s warranted. On one case, he had to strip down and coat himself in honey to be able to talk to a unicorn herd, as no in the team fit the virgin description. They figured that since he had a rapport with animals and would be offering himself as a treat, he’d have the most success talking to them. It worked. The other team members filmed it and uploaded it onto YouTube. While initially pissed off and embarrassed about it, he soon gave up to the humor of it and didn’t demand it to be taken down. He also uses it on occasion as to why others should do something instead of him. Though he won’t willingly show people the video. He has his limits.

While most people would assume that Kale - as the engineer- would be the geeky one, he’s always loved science fiction and fantasy. Like the stories where people don’t have any magical abilities at all and have to fend for themselves in a world full of magic, or even worlds without magic at all! He likes historical fantasy, like Lord of the Rings and detective fiction like the Dresden Files. He prefers other world roleplaying games as opposed to ones that take place in the real world as he can play someone who is allowed to really swing a sword or rescue the princess. Where he can do powerful magic as opposed to the more passive abilities he has now. The classes he tends to pick most are the Wizard or the Fighter. Though he’s got a small fondness for Rangers. He does avoid playing druids as much as possible as it reminds him too much of work. He has a small gaming group that meet every other week on Wednesday nights. They go to the comic book store together, grab dinner and then play until the wee hours.

Right now the biggest impact on his person is Ash in his life. The god makes him completely and utterly unsure of himself and who he is supposed to be. He feels like he should be in love with the god, every bit of him says so, but Ash is a horrible person... stalks him, and is very proprietary. He doesn’t allow Trever to be himself and try and grow into a relationship together. Also the fact that up until this point Trever was only interested in girls doesn’t help matters. (Though Ash is a bit on the effeminate side looking.) It just feels like he’s someone else when he’s around Ash and he doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like that this god is trying to make him into someone long dead. And he doesn’t like that it might be true. If he spends enough time around Ash he’ll end up speaking in Ancient Babylonian - the dialect used by Ash’s people. Ash expects to be worshiped. He doesn’t wish to be worship him. He has his own gods to pay homage too and Ash isn’t one of them.

3 Interesting Character Facts:
1. Trever always carries around a few gaming dice on him wherever he goes.
2. He once had to talk to some unicorns and the only way he could do that was to be stripped naked and covered in honey. His wonderful co-workers got video of it and stuck it on youtube. He hates them forever for that.
3. He thought about playing football professionally.
Powers: Trever is what his world calls a shaman. He has an uncanny ability to work with and communicate with animals. Because of this he has a strong connection to the workings of the natural world, though it’s strongest with animals. With his familiar Veena he’s able to tap into ley lines. Finally he has a nebulous “hero’s” ability. It’s basically he’s a prince and a descent of Heroes that makes him just a wee bit luckier than most people. It’s nothing quantifiable, but it’s as if his family is required to be heroic.
Special Skills: A MD in Veterinary science, specializing in exotic animals. Incredible alcohol tolerance. Piloting of small aircrafts and private jets. Knows how to use a gun and sword.
What is your character's comm icon and why? A cauldron and a spear on a green background, the spear and cauldron representing two of the four Jewels of the Tuathan. He’s third in line to the throne, technically. If the throne was still a Thing. Which it is, in some circles. Link to it. MARVEL AT MY ILLUSTRATOR SKILLZ

With an annoyed grunt Trever tossed his coat onto the chair in his bedroom as he surveyed the damage caused while he was gone. It wasn’t too bad this time, the kittens were getting older after all. And apparently putting raisins next to things befuddled Mayhem enough that he would leave them alone. Besides, Trever had left a large pile of scrap metal and things the office needed shredded for him to munch on. On the bed the grey kitten was asleep on his back with his legs up in the air. His siblings were splayed about his bedroom, Fluffy was snoozing in her tub of water, nearly underneath it. Veena gave her an annoyed look, but left her in the water. Instead she started bothering Trouble. Sometimes Trever was amazed at the insanity of his life.

He wanted to just fall on his bed and sleep for three days. But he had to pack for Canada. The team had to try and figure out where some villages vanished to. A cynical part of him wondered why anyone cared, but he shoved that thought down. And he had to call up Ash to see if he and Maya would watch the kittens before he could pack. Reluctantly he pulled out his cellphone and stared at the blank screen willing himself to thumb it on.

Brat appeared on his head and batted at his nose. He reached up and scratched the kitten behind the ears. He melted into the touch, purring. “I can do this,” Trever muttered to himself.

He’d done it before.

Sure, every time he’d done it he felt like this, but he had done it. And most of the time he hadn’t ended up in Ash’s bed. At that he made a mental note to have Adrian come with him to drop off the kittens. Ash’s hate for Adrian would be well used. Admittedly, he’d owe his roommate a favor, but it’d be worth it.

After rubbing his thumb across the screen he typed in his password and dialed Ash. The phone started to ring as he stared up at the ceiling trying to figure out how to make the conversation as short as possible. He wished he could take the kittens back to Thorn Hall to be watched, but they didn’t have enough time and getting the through customs would be a bitch. Never mind trying to fly them back in the first place. For one long horrifying moment he thought about Mayhem on an airplane. The rolly polly kitten looked as dead as roadkill still not having moved even though Trever had gotten on the bed.

“Hello darling,” Ash said, his voice smooth and comforting. It washed away a great deal of anxiety that Trever felt and he shook himself. “What can I do for you?”

“The team and I are going out of country and I need someone to watch the kittens. Do you think Maya would be able to do so?” he asked, being careful not to include Ash in the watching of the kittens.

“All six of them?”

“Yeah.” Trever really needed to get homes for them. Maybe one or two could be sent back to Thorn Hall. But he’d have to deal with that later.

“I suppose so. When would you be coming over.” Ash’s voice dripped with hope and promises of pleasure.

“Adrian and I will drop them off around six?” Trever said, stressing Adrian’s name.

A paused followed. “Yes. Well. I see.”

“I’ll bring all the food they need though you’ll need to find some stuff for Mayhem to eat.”

“Mel gave me some silverware that I dislike. I’ll feed it to him.”

“He’ll love that,” Trever said, glancing at Mayhem. “Tell Maya thank you for me.”

“I will, darling. See you tomorrow.” Ash hung up and Trever let out a sigh of relief.

And then realized he really needed a cold shower.

As he struggled to sit up again, Veena pounced on his chest, her fur fluffling and a low growl vibrating out of her throat. The force of it threw him back onto the bed with a startled yelp. The kittens scattered with tiny meeps of fear. “What is wrong with you?” he asked. Her claws dug into his skin as an answer just before blacking out.

Pet Name: Veena
Size: Average house cat sized house cat.
Description: Veena is a domestic short haired black cat with gold eyes weighing about ten pounds. She looks perfectly ordinary and unremarkable.
Personality: Like most cats, Veena believes that she’s the center of the universe and everyone should bow to her whims. She’s haughty and proud and doesn’t see why she shouldn’t be allowed to be somewhere. Especially since she can be there. She’s not much of a food thief but she does like stealing objects and will occasionally make ‘nests’ out of them. Most of the time she’s with Trever, on him or around him trying to trip him up. Even though she can teleport she’ll often cry to make someone let her in or out of a place, because they should do it, damn it. She’s very protective of Trever and will attack anyone she thinks is threatening him. Trying to fight a teleporting cat is … difficult. Trever tends to use her as a litmus test on who he can trust. If she’s friendly with someone, he usually feels like they’re a good person. Mostly she likes Trever and ignores other people except when they have something she wants. Though she’s not above sitting on keyboards or that place you were about to sit.
Special Abilities: She can teleport. There are very few things that can get in her way of teleporting into. Is Trever’s familiar which makes her a bit smarter than your average cat. She also might be from fairy, however no tests have been able to prove this satisfactorily one way or the other. She is also the only known domestic cat in Trever’s world that has the ability to teleport. until she had kittens.
Anything Else?: Veena is after kittens but isn’t bringing any of them with her. Be glad. Be very, very glad.
